You Will

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Analytics & Insights to join our team. The director of analytics will play a crucial role in driving data-driven decision-making processes, optimizing our operations, and enhancing our impact. This individual will lead our analytics team in leveraging data to inform strategic initiatives, measure outcomes, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Girl Scouts relies on data and research to measure the impact of our customer experience, identify trends, and find new markets for growth. The individual will take a hands-on approach to leading a team responsible for requirements, analyzing, executing, reporting, and developing insights to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities within the movement. This individual will also manage the team that provides the visualization capabilities for ongoing reporting for both the national organization and support for the 111 Girl Scout councils; therefore, this leader position will be responsible for gathering business requirements, determining the best ad hoc response, data product, visualization solution or ongoing reporting is required. This role works closely with the Enterprise Data Management team to ensure that the required data exists or provide the requirements to source the data setting end internal client expectations on delivery thinking not only of the analytical scope of work but taking into the consideration sourcing the data. There is a need to develop data product lifecycle management capability across the broader team; therefore, experience and knowledge in this area would be an bonus for the position.

Key Responsibilities:

    Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive analytics strategy aligned with the nonprofit's mission and goals.
  • Data Analytics: Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various sources to provide insights into organizational performance, program effectiveness, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track progress towards organizational objectives, ensuring that metrics are meaningful, relevant, and actionable.
  • Predictive Modeling: Utilize advanced statistical techniques and predictive modeling to forecast trends, anticipate challenges, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Data Visualization: Develop intuitive and visually appealing dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate insights and findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with departments across the organization to understand their data needs, provide analytical support, and drive data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of analysts, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Integration: Optimize, evaluate (if needed), and implement analytics tools, platforms, and technologies to streamline data management processes and enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in analytics and data science, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Analytics Development & Execution

  • Oversees and leads all GSUSA reporting, business and analytics development and execution and is responsible for developing insights for strategic direction.
  • Manages multiple simultaneous ad hoc requests, analytical projects, ensuring alignment with defined objectives and adherence to established timelines.
  • Acts as subject-matter expert on Girl Scout data and can integrate third party data and research into analysis. Applies insights and learnings to day-to-day questions and conversations across the movement to inform decisioning.
  • Synthesizes research and analysis and develops insights and make clear recommendations to inform strategic decisions. Proactively communicates key insights to key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Identifies areas to leverage data to track ongoing health of Girl Scout movement and brand.
  • Develops an agile data product lifecycle plan and leads execution through the broader team.
  • Develops ad hoc analysis, dashboards, and regular communications with focus on actionable insights to ensure stakeholders have access to the latest findings.
  • Provides Look and other reporting training and support to both GSUSA and councils.
  • Manages intake process of new requests and prioritizes work for the team based on strategic initiatives, finding synergies among departments and between the national and council organizations.
  • As needed, represents the work at GSUSA and council events, as well as external conferences, and attends local and national meetings

Leadership

  • Leads and coaches a team responsible for the design and execution of analytical and data product projects that answer key business questions and identifies opportunities to develop ongoing reports or data products to increase business user self-service.
  • Mentors team in conducting basic and advanced ad hoc analyses to derive key insights using a variety of data acquisition, analytical and visualization tools, such as Excel, Power BI, and Looker.
  • Proactively collaborates with cross-divisional leaders (Revenue Office including Membership, Council Partnership, Program, Fund Development, DEIRJ, and Finance) to understand their strategies and questions and identifies areas where data and analytics can inform strategic decisions and measure impact.
  • Establish a cross team data product development and lifecycle program over time.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

The Individual is regarded at the highest level of very experienced subject matter expert with high credibility and who is perceived outside the organization as an authority in a complex analytical field.

* More than five (5) years prior experience in a management or staff position with responsibility over multidisciplinary functions including people.

* Passion for the nonprofit sector and a commitment to advancing social impact and social justice initiatives.

* Significant experience leading major multi-faceted analytical projects and data product development or lifecycle management, as a manager or individual team lead.

* Abilitytoinferactionableinsightsfromfirst party and secondary data and effectively communicate them in compelling reports and presentations (e.g., in PowerPoint or other platforms using data visualization, headlines, and stories).

* The inclination to seek and analyze data from a variety of sources to support decisions and to align others with the organization's overall strategy.

* Excellent "storytelling" skills, ability to craft insight into clear, logical written presentations designed for a senior audience.

* Strong organization, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills including communicating complex information with clarity to diverse audiences, and preparing and presenting reports, dashboards, and other written communications to GSUSA and council stakeholders.

* Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.

* Anticipates needs and is skilled in resolving current issues, and the ability to build long-term solutions and roadmaps to meet the needs of the council and internal shareholders.

* Proven relationship builder based upon trust, respect, effective communication, and achievement of common goals; experience in identifying potential needs and opportunities and in fostering collaboration and support.

* Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, advanced skills in Excel and Looker; comfortable using macros to automate more complex analysis.

* Experienced with database-based systems to pull information required to complete analysis. Experience working with Snowflake a plus.

* Advanced proficiency in using business intelligence tools such as Looker or Power BI.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

Office 365 or similar suites

Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software

Expert in Microsoft Excel software

Knowledge of SPSS or similar (including the use of syntax and multivariate statistics) a plus

Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Looker, Power BI, Excel, or similar platforms.

Forecasting experience and knowledge.

Data Product Development and Lifecycle management a plus

Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data manipulation and analysis.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (i.e., degrees, certifications)

Degree or Equivalent Experience:

A BS degree required; MS preferred

Minimum Years of Experience: 8 + years' experience in corporate and/or non-profit environment

Salary Range: $80,500 - $130,000

This represents the present low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with a 35 hour per week schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
